Suffern Robotics advances to Super-Regionals

Suffern Robotics Team 7486 won the 2nd Place Inspire Award at the 2015-16 Garden State Rumble NJ FTC Championship at new Jersey Institute of Technology University on February 28 and will advance to the FTC East Super-Regional Championship at the University of Scranton this month. Both Suffern Robotics teams earned a berth at the regional competition in Newark.

This judged award is given to the Team that truly embodied the ‘challenge’ of the FTC program. The Team that receives this award is a strong ambassador for FIRST programs and a role model FTC Team. This Team is a top contender for many other judged awards and is a gracious competitor. The Inspire Award winner is an inspiration to other Teams, acting with Gracious Professionalism™ both on and off the Playing Field. This Team is able to communicate their experiences, enthusiasm and knowledge to other Teams, sponsors, their community, and the Judges. Working as a unit, this Team will have demonstrated success in accomplishing the task of designing and building a robot. Suffern High School math teacher and Robotics team advisor George Mugno, credits Abby Gandon and Neha Ramaswamy for their outstanding work in terms of documenting each step of the engineering design process—including troubleshooting and 3D modeling—used to design and build the robot affectionately known as “Dáin.”

At the Super-Regional Championship (March 18-20), Team 7486 will compete against the top 72 teams from Maine to Virginia for a chance to advance to the World Championships in St. Louis, MO .
